| Personal History | Third child in the family, born on Mars after father and mother emigrated. Both older siblings joined Starfleet and Jasmine (Jazz) stills serves. Nicholas (Nick) was something of a computer genius but ran afoul of authorities and after escaping from a Federation prison has been a fugitive ever since. The shuttle accident that killed both of her parents and cost Katie the use of two fingers on her left hand happened just after she was accepted to the Academy and was ruled to be sabotage. Some authorities believe that Nicholas was also on the shuttle and died as well but his body was never found. It was at that point in her life that Katie, who had always been competitive and sports oriented took up her “life is short so let’s party attitude.” She frequently got in trouble at the Academy for trouble making, breaking curfew, etc. and came close to being thrown out her Freshman and Sophomore years. But like she had done so many times, she got her act together and managed to graduate in the middle of her class. Her only distinction at the Academy was a school record for cautions and ejections on intramural soccer teams. |
