She also enjoys reading holo-novels based around 22nd battles and skirmishes.

Personal History Laurel was born and raised in a suburb within San Francisco, California. She had a normal childhood, and engaged well with her school teachers and made plenty of friends. Laurel had a good relationship with her brother Gregory, and spent a lot of time with him growing up in and around San Francisco. The two of them would often go walking around the city together from a relatively young age.

One winter, when Laurel was only eleven years old, she and her brother were walking along the seafront during a particularly stormy afternoon. Gregory would often enjoy watching the waves crash onto the shore during storms. Suddenly a wave crashed onto the path that the siblings were standing on, and swept Laurel out into the water. Knowing that Laurel wasn’t a strong swimmer, Gregory didn’t hesitate to jump in after his sister despite the dangers. Thankfully he managed to get his sister back to the shore and started chest compressions and mouth to mouth as soon as he realised she wasn’t breathing. Within moments she started coughing up the salty water and recovered. Laurel and her brother became even closer after that day.

Growing up in and around ‘Frisco’, Laurel had made the decision from a very early age that she wanted to join Starfleet. The city was always full of Academy cadets and personnel, and she had always thought that they looked so smart and so brave.

She joined the Academy at the age of 18 to study flight control, and graduated from Starfleet Academy at the age of 22. She had some of the most impressive results of her year, and graduated summa cum laude. Although she remained incredibly grounded and humble despite her achievements.

Laurel applied for a handful of starship positions almost immediately, and was offered a post onboard the USS Sequential as a helm officer. The only negative was that the Sequential would be setting off on a five-year deep space mission. Thinking about the positives and negatives and weighing up her other options, Laurel finally accepted the posting.

After five years, the Sequential returned to Earth and allowed the crew to disembark on some much needed rest and relaxation. Laurel felt that it was now the right time to move on with her career.

Not long after leaving the Sequential, an opportunity to join the crew of the USS Albion under famed Captain Sprague as the Chief Flight Control Officer presented itself. This was a great opportunity to advance her career as an officer and a member of Starfleet, and an opportunity Laurel grabbed with both hands.
