Grallator: “So how well do you know Captain Sprague? Only thing I know is that he is one of only two crewmembers who orders more desserts than drinks in 10 Forward.”
Janeway ::thinks for a moment, a small tired smile forming as she leans back in her seat:: “Well enough to know he has a very particular way of doing things. We’re supposed to help the Norwich crew adjust to ‘The Sprague Way.’”
::She glanced down at the small empty cardboard boxes of self-heating tuna tin still sitting in her lap from the beach duty. The absurdity of the last few days hit her again.::
Janeway ::dryly, holding up the tiny can:: “At least we won’t have to survive on these anymore. Though I’m half convinced one of those giant intergalactic sea monsters near the beach ate the rest of the detachment on their way back.”
Grallator ::chuckling:: “Wouldn’t be the worst way to go. Better than starving on tuna rations.”
Janeway ::shaking her head with a quiet laugh:: “Let’s just hope the Norwich has better food. And better Marines.”
::She set the empty tin aside and looked out the viewport at the stars streaking by, already mentally preparing for whatever awaited them on the new ship. The weight of the temporary assignment settled on her shoulders. New ship. New crew. Same mission.
