Mission: The Assessment
Location: Albion, cargo bay 1

ON:


Grexx and Mack: ::inspecting the scientific equipment to be delivered to Viridian IV::

Mack: ::completes conventional scan of items and transport manifest. pulls another scanner device
off his tool belt. proceeds to scan again with that one. After a few minutes of going back to some of
the other items in the bay, he scans the floor and bulkhead walls.::

Grexx:: notices that he is doing some kind of odd. "Mack, what kind of scanner is that?"


"it's one I picked up with a set of non-issue scientific scanning equipment, last we were at a starbase
that kind of had a boneyard of available gear. I've been running it from my quarters. Andrews knows about
it."
::looks at both scanners for a few seconds, then scans one scanner with the other. hands his issue scanner
to Grexx.
She looks at it. Then she looks at Mack. Then she looks at the cargo and again at the manifest.::

"You wanna report this, or do you want me to do it, Grexx?"

"Well it kind of is your discovery. They might want to know why you did that kind of scan."

"Call it a hunch."

"that is a hell of a hunch, mister Mack."

"you're telling me."

"tell you what, since I'm sort of in charge of the cargo this time, I'll do it, but include you since
you did the scans. "

"Fine by me. I'd recommend that we copy Genno and Spivik as well as Andrews."

"yeah, eventually they would want to know and that could save Commander Andrews a step."

"And who knows how soon this might become time-sensitive. Sooner is better."

"how are we supposed to get the scan data off your other device, Mack?"


"it's a bit more convoluted since it isn't regulation, so I'll load it thru my quarters scan set. I'll go there now
and get that ball rolling. They will want to see this."


::Varley suddenly beeps the door and comes in. Seems surprised to find Grexx and Mack in the cargo bay.::

"I was supposed to accept this shipment. What are you guys doing here?"

Grexx: "That isn't what I was told. Captain Sprague sent us to inspect the cargo and the ship in dock.
We have already accomplished part of that assignment and sent the findings to appropriate command staff."

Varley: "I should be copied on that information."

Grexx: "I do not have the authority to determine who has access to the mainfest. That would be commander Andrews
or the Captain."

Varley: "you could just show it to me now."

Grexx: "actually no I can't. It is already sent, and you were not on the list of reports."

Varley makes a face, turns and goes out the door.

Grexx: "computer. activate a level four security and medical protection field around all of the
cargo in bay number one. Override access from interior doors until further notice. Also please
notify commander Andrews and doctor spivick."

computer: "override acknowledged, authorization grexx general duty."

"I guess we had better get out of here and go get scanned ourselves, Mack."

Mack: "See you in sick bay."
